Exorcism

Definition
Exorcism is the religiously based act of forcing the Devil or a demon from the body of a possessed person. This act is usually performed by a religious figure, such as a priest or shaman, and involves the performing of rituals. Various cultures including the Greeks, Babylonians and Egyptians all had forms of what we term today as exorcism. For instance, the Babylonian exorcism consisted of the formation and eventual destruction of a clay doll fashioned in the shape of the demon.

How did you first become interested?

I was about 10 when I read about someone who became possessed, I was always fascinated. Once I started investigations later in life I was asked to explore and help people who had a spirit in their house.

What was your first experience?

I was pregnant with my 2nd child when I had an experience with a woman who was possessed and the spirit made themselves known during a church service. I was not able to help her because a guide told me that I would come to harm if I laid my hands on her and tried to help. I met up with her in later life and a relative laid their hands on her and the spirit was gone.

What kind of information comes through during an exorcism?

I usually get the name of the spirit, why they are attached to the person or place, and usually the cause for the possession. This can sometime be attributed to a person who has an addiction, depression or long term illness that render them as being vulnerable. I also get the information of what I need to say to banish the spirit. This is usually a different word for each exorcism.

What are the warning signs for possession of people or propety?

Cold spots in the house, an unnatural cold. Disturbances of objects, noises and unusual smells. High electricity bills, as this can be because the spirit is draining the power. With people it is usually a change in behaviour, reckless, violence, heavy drinking, exaggerated behaviour, self harm, suicide any behaviour out of character.

Can you suggest how someone can seek help if they are experiencing this phenomenon?

If you are of religious belief then call your local priest to discuss this further. You could try asking a medium or psychic to visit the house and communicate with the energy and try and persuade the spirit to leave. The spirit needs to be told to move on to the light as they no longer belong on the earth plane.
